How to strike a pose for your outfit photos has become such a common question that every IT girl constantly looking for a better answer. Regardless you're a beginner or a style blogger, when it comes to taking outfit photos, questions such as how should I pose with this outfit, where should I look, what to do with my hands will eventually come to your mind (unless you're already a pro, then you do not need any of this tips).

I'm not consider a great poser but I've got to say after learning a thing or two from those #ootd shots from fashion bloggers, you'll kind of spot the pattern. A handful of poses tend to pop up again and again - and they may just be the secret to getting those thousands of double-taps. Hence, I've decided to jump onto the bandwagon by giving you the tips and tricks which are extremely useful for me and probably you! Without further ado, let's jump straight into the topic and say ciao to those shitty photos!

There are several things you need to be aware of in order to enhance the quality of your outfit photos

1. Make sure the photo is taken as low as possible!
If you want to have an elongate look, make sure the one who helps you take your ootd photo squat down or take the camera in a lower position.

2. An uncluttered backdrop is your ultimate best friend
Most of us take our ootd shots with our phones, hence it is better to find a plain solid color wall or slightly texture wall . This is to ensure our outfit details pop and not drawn away by the clutter backdrop. Besides, it also creates that clean and minimal shot. On the other hand, if you're using a professional camera, it's alright if your backdrop is clutter as you can easily blur them out!

3. Natural lighting is the key
If you're planning to shoot your ootd outdoors, utilise the natural lights! The best time to shoot is either in the mid morning or mid afternoon, when you've sufficient light to work with but it won't be too strong. Try not to shoot with the bright direct sunlgiht as you'll find it difficult to avoid over exposed images. If you're working indoor, make sure you have as much natural lighting entering the room as possible.

4. Make sure all the lines in the photo are skewed straight!
Many people tend to forget about this, it might not be obvious but it'll definitely affect the overall. While taking the photo, make sure all the lines are skewed straight horizontally or vertically. You can always double check it while you're editing.

1. The Lean
Couldn't think of any pose, the easiest way is just lean against the backdrop. It can be a wall, a fence, or even a car. This pose creates that laid back vibe and make your photos look effortlessly stunning.
Pro Tip: When you're leaning against the backdrop, arch your back, and pop your butt out but and instantly it just slims you down and make you look good.

2. The Knee-Pop
By popping up one of your knees, it will instantly elongate your legs and make them look slender. Thus, no doubt that this has made this pose a favorite among the fashion community.
Pro Tip: If you're wearing culottes or wide-legged pants, this pose will come in handy as a little leg separation prevents them from looking like a skirt in photos.

3. The Cross-Legged Stance
When you cross your legs for your photos, it immediately elongates your legs. Besides, by crossing your legs, your photos will look more dynamic and flattering. Most important is this pose goes well whether you're wearing a dress or a pair of jeans.
Pro tip: If you're wearing flats, try tip-toeing and you'll see how lean and tall you'll look in the photos.

4. The Straight-On-Street-Style Veteran

With legs hip-width spart, lean more weight to one side, keep your arms hanging down, or tug it in your pockets, and offer your signature smile, or simply just stare to the side. BAAAM - you've officially achieved street style photographer gold!

5. Look Back At it
If you want your ootd photos look natural as if they are candid, the best pose is look back at it while you're walking or sitting. This creates the illusion as it someone just called you and your turn back. However, this type of shots might be difficult to capture. You will end up caught closing eyes or just some weird faces.
Pro tip: Make sure you synchronizing with the one who help you take photos. Make them count so you know when to turn, or you can directly just pose.

6. The Hand-In-Pocket
Pockets, pockets, pockets, that's why clothes that have pockets automatically sign me in. Not sure what your hand should do, or where should you position them, just tuck them in your pocket as if you're reaching for something! If you're wearing clothes that have no pockets, belt loops are great tool as well. It gives off that cowgirl look but still you'll look chic AF!

7. The Candid Hand
Of course, hand is your ultimate best friend to make your photos look lively and natural. You can use your hand to fix your hair, play your hair or even tug your hair behind your ear. Aside from these, you can also position your hand on your shoulder, elbow or atop of another hand. Just try to move your hand around and you'll know which position suits your mood and outfit best.

8. The Strut a.k.a Faux Walking
Fake walking shot is extremely common and popular among fashion elites as it makes your pictures look candid and kind of street style vibe. However, it can be a bit trickier as the photos might turn out blurry. This can be remedied by walking at slower pace or just walk front and backward until you get the perfect shot.

9. Use your prop
Prop really makes wonder to your photos. It can be your phone, flowers, or a cup of take-away coffee (which is my favorite). With these props, you can just work on it either by prettending sipping some coffee or looking at your phone.

10. Sit and Stare
It's not necessarily to stand for every single ootd shots, you can still showcase your clothing, accessories, and jewelry from head to toe while you're sitting! Sometimes the results turn out to be even better!
Pro Tip: If you're sitting on staircase, keep your feet on different stairs to elongate your feet!

xoxo
I hope all these tips will come in handy for your upcoming ootd shots!
